AROUND LEAT HOUSE

PORT ISAAC
Port Isaac is a traditional fishing village with a vibrant local community and home to the TV series Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes. It's a truly picturesque village with narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages that head down to the harbour where you can watch local fishermen landing their daily catch of fish, crab and lobsters. Port Isaac is less than a quarter of a mile from Leat House.
WATER SPORTS
If you fancy taking part in some adventure water sports, then look no further than at the bottom of the garden at Leat House....! Cornish Rock Tors operate from Port Gaverne beach and offer an array of outdoors adventure sports. From sea kayaking to coasteering, rock climbing to wild swimming.
If you are looking to surf, the best nearby beaches are Polzeath and Trebarwith Strand.
BEACHES
North Cornwall has some of the most stunning beaches along the Cornish coast. The nearest sandy beaches to Leat House are Trebarwith strand, Polzeath and Daymer Bay, all roughly 15 minutes drive away. If you fancy driving slightly further afield, why not venture around to the other side of the estuary and visit Trevone, Harlyn Bay, Constantine Bay and Treyarnon. All stunning beaches.
WALKS
Leat House is set in the midst of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by open pasture, rocky valleys, hills rolling away into the distance and North Cornwall’s legendary, dramatic coastline. LOCAL PRODUCE
If you like fish, you will love the little shop/cafe at the top of the hill towards Port Isaac called 'Fresh from the Sea'. They sell seasonal fish that is caught each morning, from crab to lobster, mackerel to oysters. The hake is particularly good, as is the handpicked crab sandwich!

TINTAGEL CASTLE
Immerse yourself in history, myths and stunning scenery at Tintagel Castle, set high on Cornwall's rugged north coast, roughly 20 minutes drive from Leat House. Inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur, for centuries this dramatic castle and coastline has fired the imaginations of writers, artists and even the brother of a king.
RESTAURANTS
Less than 50 metres away is the AA 5 star, 2 Rosette rated Port Gaverne restaurant and hotel, voted top gastropub in Cornwall at this year’s prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards. The food and ambience is just wonderful there and a visit is highly recommended. Booking in advance is advisable for the restaurant.
The recently opened Pilchards cafe which is next door to Leat House, has been built from scratch in a prime spot overlooking Port Gaverne Bay, seconds from the sea. The menu changes daily but there’s always seafood straight off the grill, cocktails, Cornish craft beers & 20 different types of gin.
Only 0.2 miles away up the hill towards Port Isaac is the famous 2 Michelin star Nathan Outlaw's restaurant. The perfect place to visit for those special occasions! Be sure to book in advance.

PADSTOW
EDEN PROJECT
The legendary Eden Project is a dramatic global garden housed in tropical biomes that nestle in a crater the size of 30 football pitches. Eden is a fun and family-friendly day out. Curious kids can find out where tea, rubber and sugar come from, and travel the world to the simulated environments of tropical destinations that they dream of traveling to in the future. There are themed events according to the seasons, workshops for adults and children, activity days, music concerts and much more besides. The Eden Project is less than an hour's drive from Leat House.
Padstow is a charming working fishing port surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, at the head of the Camel River. This foodie destination with popular eateries such as Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, is the start and end point for the Camel Cycle Trail and a good base for water sports. Padstow is roughly a 30 minutes drive from Leat House.
